Lowrance Elite 5 Sonar / GPS transducer

I have bought a Lowrance Elite 5 Sonar / GPS to use on the jet ski. I have decided to mount the transducer so that it will shoot through the hull. I have mounted it in the left rear of the jet ski near the exhaust water chamber.

I took a piece of cardboard and silicone it to the hull to make a dam then when that dried I filled it with fiberglass reisn then set the transducer into the pool of reisn and let it harden.
I took the jet ski out in the river for a test run and the transducer seems to work fine in this location. I decided on this location because I did not want the transducer on the outside of the transom where it could get broken or interfere with fishing lines. I have used this way to mount my transducer in my larger boats with good results.

      Bilge pump

I installed a electronic bilge pump in the rear compartment under the battery box in a low point of the hull.

The way I mounted the bilge pump is with marine silicone and glued it to the hull where I wanted it to be. I installed a through the hull fitting in the rear of the jet ski for my discharge point. I will wire the bilge pump up later.

It all looks very, very nice Handyman. What are you looking as far as range and what distance do you intend to go offshore with this machine?

I will have 18 gallons of fuel in the jet ski and will have another 12 gallons in an AUX tank that mounts under the fish cooler. I will be going 35 to 60 miles offshore on a regular basis, I hope.
I can carry (2) 6 gallon gas can just to be on the safe side of things.
Thanks for the post and I hope that you stay active here and be sure to tell all your friends. The first ten members who makes a post will receive a $10 gift card.

That's a LOT of fuel and a LONG ways to travel offshore. Will you be accompanied on your trips? I have been marooned once on my ski last year while only 12 miles offshore. That "rescue" was a bit of a Keystone Cops type exercise in silliness. I'll have to post it up somewhere for all to laugh at.

I will be alone until I find someone to go with me. The reason for starting this forum is to get more people introduced to jet ski fishing and maybe have someone to go out with me fishing offshore.
I am glad you were rescued and are ok. I would like to hear the story. You could post it in Jet Ski Fishing - Trips, with a title of Trips Gone Wrong.

                    Carbs

I have rebuilt a second set of carbs for the jet ski. The set on the jet ski now dose not have the chokes or shafts. Going offshore I want to have the chokes if I need them.

                        Railings mounted

I have gotten the railings welded and mounted. Now I need to get the canvas for the top fitted.

                          new rebuilt carbs installed today

I have installed the newly rebuilt carbs with chokes today and I am working on a primer system utilizing the oiling feed points in each carb to help with startups after the engine has been sitting for a while.

With all that railing is the ski top heavy?.. i would be worried it would roll on me trying to fight a jack or just moving around

I do not even know that it is on the ski. The only time that I notice a difference I when you are at the dock. If you grab the top to get on you can tell that you have more leverage on the ski and can make it tilt more than usual.
